The following are the checks that we carry out on every car:

VIN number plate
Condition of seats
Condition of headlining/soft top
Operation/Fitting of sunroof/soft top
Condition of carpets/gear lever gaiter
Condition of door trims
Operation of horn
Operation of courtesy lights
Check for spare tyre
Condition of spare wheel rim
Condition of boot carpet and trim
Check for tools
Tools and spear wheel stowed correctly 
Internal boot/hatch opening mechanism
Paintwork for scratches
Trim/badges damaged/missing – replace if necessary
Wheel trims damaged or missing
Operation of exterior lock mechanisms including keys and remote control units
Condition and legality of number plates

Operation of window mechanisms
Operation of any accessories
Operation of heater fan
Operation of radio/cassette/CD player
Operation of panel lights
Boot lid/hatch seals correctly – adjust as required
Check for signs of water ingress
Bodywork and bumpers or damage
Light lenses and reflectors for damage – replace if necessary
Windscreen for chip/cracks and compliance with MOT regulation
All other glass condition
Radio aerial operation and condition – replace if necessary
Bonnet mechanism
Security of seats
Operation of all seat mechanisms
Condition of seat belts
Security of belt mounting
Operation of door mechanisms including child locks
Operation of headlights
Operation of side lights
Operation of direction indicators
Operation of hazard warning lights
Operation of brake lights
Operation of fog lights
Operation of reversing lights
Operation of number plate lights
Operation of spot lights
Condition of front and rear wiper blades
Engine oil
Oil filter
Spark plugs

All engine bay wiring for wear
Check ignition timing
Check CO level
Check catalysis converter
For oil from engine
For oil leaks from gearbox/axle/final drive assembly “as applicable”
Clutch slave cylinder for leaks
Steering assembly for damage
Steering assembly for wear and leaks
Propshaft/driveshafts and gaiters for signs of wear and leaks
Exhaust for security and condition
Top up axle/gearbox oil level as appropriate
Suspension mounting points for damage
Suspension units for damage
Suspension units for wear and leaks
Suspension brushes for excessive wear
Shock absorbers for leak
Clearance for axle/suspension with bump stop or chassis
Chassis rail for damage
Brake pipes for corrosion
Brake pipes for security
Fuel pipes for leaks
Fuel pipes for damage
Fuel tank hoses for security
Handbrake cable and mechanism for damage/corrosion
Brake pads/shows for wear – adjust or replace as necessary
Condition of discs/drums – adjust if necessary
Wheel cylinders and callipers for fluid leaks
Tyres (including spare) for 3mm tread dept
Sidewalls for cracks/damage and tyre compatibility
Check wheel bearing
Check tyre pressures, including spare
Check wheel alignment to manufacturer’s standard
For excessive visible exhaust emissions
For clutch slip/judder (or kickdown and change speed operation on automatic)
Gearbox operation
Foot brake operation, pull and fade
Operation of ABS
Check handbrake operation
Check handbrake adjustment
Speedmeter operation 
Odometer/tripmeter operation
Operation and accuracy of all other gauges
Operation of wiper/washer front and rear
Operation of glass and door mirrors
Security of door mirrors
