What is an MOT Test?

The MOT (Ministry of Transport) test is a mandatory annual safety check for vehicles over three years old in the UK. It ensures your car meets the minimum legal standards for roadworthiness, safety, and environmental requirements.

Your vehicle needs an MOT test:

  • Annually, once it's three years old
  • Before the current MOT certificate expires
  • If you want to drive legally on UK roads
  • To validate your car insurance and road tax

Without a valid MOT certificate, you could face:

  • £1,000 fine for driving without an MOT
  • £2,500 fine for driving a dangerous vehicle
  • Invalidated insurance coverage
  • Three penalty points on your driving licence

What We Check During Your MOT Test

Our experienced MOT testers conduct a thorough examination of your vehicle across all mandatory areas, including:

  • Vehicle Structure & Body - checking for rust, corrosion, and structural damage
  • Steering & Suspension - checking steering wheel operation and alignment
  • Braking System - checking items such as brake pads and disc condition
  • Lights & Electrical - checking the headlights and dashboard warning lights, among others
  • Wheels & Tyres - checking the tread depth and tyre condition, as well as security
  • Driver's View - checking windscreen condition and visibility, as well as mirrors
  • Exhaust & Emissions - checking items such as catalytic converter presence and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter), where fitted
  • Engine & Transmission - checking for oil leaks and fluid levels
