Is Volvo a Swedish brand?
Yes — Volvo Cars is a Swedish manufacturer, founded in Gothenburg in 1927. The brand remains headquartered in Gothenburg today and retains a strong Scandinavian identity in its design and values. Since 2010, Volvo Cars has been owned by Geely, the Chinese automotive group, which has invested significantly in the brand's development — including its shift towards electrification and premium positioning.
Are Volvo cars safe?
Volvo is widely regarded as the benchmark for automotive safety — a reputation built over decades of pioneering safety innovation. The brand invented the three-point seatbelt in 1959 and has continued to lead the industry in safety technology ever since. Modern Volvos consistently achieve the highest possible Euro NCAP safety ratings and come equipped with advanced driver assistance systems as standard. For buyers who prioritise safety above all else, Volvo is one of the strongest choices on the market.
Is Volvo a luxury car brand?
Yes — Volvo firmly occupies the premium and luxury segment of the market. The brand competes directly with German premium manufacturers such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz, offering a Scandinavian alternative that emphasises minimalist design, high-quality materials and a calm, refined driving experience. On the used market, Volvo's premium positioning means you get a genuinely luxurious car at a fraction of the new price.
